World we dare to imagine pt.3

Stop Suicide,  Start Living  I am passionate about this topic because suicide rates are at an all-time high due to depression and anxiety. I want to get to a point where people never feel the need to take their own life. I am passionate because I feel like alleviating this issue will, in turn, create a more loving and passionate society which will assist in helping broader issues. Solutions Eliminate societal norms and preach doing things for the good of yourself  Provide more resources at the high school and college level because that age group is affected the most Promote cognitive therapy and promote daily self-care activities such as daily rituals and getting patients into a routine they can trust and be passionate about promote the idea of strengthening your mind daily just like any other muscle in your body AMDP Should Invest in this company because the future of our society is the generation that is currently struggling the most with depression and anxiety. World we dare to imagine pt.1

I want to acknowledge that I am aware of the many pressing issues in our world. I wish there was a button we could press to make things like world hunger, climate change, rape, and other major issues disappear. I think there are plenty of amazing movements in place that will help with these issues that I hope to one day be apart of. However, I want to talk about something a little different. If I could change anything in this world it would be to eliminate societal norms and live in a world where we focus on loving yourself and others, empathy, and passion. Way too often, people including myself look at what others are doing to get confirmation on what they are doing. Although this may seem like a small issue, I believe it is what is tearing our society apart. Social media is one of the worst contributing factors to this issue. We see things on different platforms of people, celebrities, professional athletes living this luxurious life. When in reality, some of them are most likely hur...

Kansas City Royals Project

Kansas City Royals: The Revival          Since the Kansas City Royals won a World Series in 2015, they have had a difficult duplicating success as they have been unable to replicate advancements in their minor league system through development and draft picks, sign valuable international born players, and compete at the Major League level for a free agent. With their recent lack of success, this does put them in a position to make power moves as their pool of money of international signings goes up and they will receive year after year of top draft picks.  While they are not currently playoff contenders, this will usually steer teams at taking younger and riskier prospects with their allotted money which in return can make enable them to sign players with a very high ceiling for less than market value. On the contrary, the lack of success at the big-league level does not provide any advantages as it means they are unlikely to resign ...

Book 2 Post 1 - My Life On The Road

I chose My Life On The Road by Gloria Steinem for a variety of reasons but mainly because Gloria has spent the majority of her life traveling. I have always loved traveling and seeing different places because I believe it gives you a great perspective. Sports has consumed so much of my life that I have not had as much time as I would like to get out and travel more. However, when I was 14 I took a trip with my family to Sayulita which is a village along the Pacific Coast of Mexico. To say I loved it there would be completely underselling it. The laid back vibe, delicious food, and the generous locals are what made this trip so special. Sometimes when you stay in an area for so long, you begin to think that is the only way people live. However, traveling gives you the perspective to see that there are so many amazing people in this world that live completely different than you.  I am inspired by Gloria Steinem and how she has used a variety of destinations to formulate her way...

Book 1 Post 2 - Final Post

Growing up I was always fascinated by planets and space in general so when I saw the title 'How I killed Pluto' it grabbed my eye. When I look back on my childhood I have some amazing memories, but for the most part, a lot of it is hard to recollect. However, for whatever reason, I vividly remember the time when my classmates and I found out Pluto was declared a dwarf planet. Considering I was 7 and just in second grade, I obviously was very confused by this decision and what went into it. Skip forward to now, and I have learned in this book that the International Astronomical Union (IAU) classify a planet by 3 categories.  1. It is in the orbit of the sun 2. It has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape) 3. It has "cleared the neighborhood" around its orbit The category Pluto did not pass was that it did not clear its neighborhood. In other words, it has become gravitationally dominant and has nothing of its comparable size in its vi...

AMDP Memo

TO:             Professor Clark Hansen, CEO, Anima Mundi Development Partners FROM:       Ethan Reed   DATE:        October 3rd , 2020 SUBJECT: Recommendation to Invest in Nike As a researcher and a strong advocate for AMDP, I believe Nike is a tremendous investment opportunity. Not only is Nike the most valuable fashion brand in the world and the most successful sports corporation, but they also pride themself on doing what is right to better our nation as a whole. Triple Bottom Line is the idea that companies should prioritize more than just profit/revenue to determine the success of their company. (TBL) suggests that the planet and people are just as vital to a companies success as is profit. This idea demands that companies focus on positively affecting the future of our environment. People, Planet, Profit are the important takeaways from this idea. Social Enterprise Similar to (TBL), Social Enter...

Random Post - What I did During Quarintine

Growing up playing sports I have never really had a lot of free time considering there is always some sort of workout/practice to get to. However, when this pandemic hit, it forced me to get creative on how I could go about my days. In the beginning, I found myself getting very bored and it was driving me crazy. One hobby I have grown to love is reading. From real estate books to sportsbooks to biographies I have truly loved them all. It has taken me away from spending too much time on social media and really helped me relax and grow my knowledge on different topics. Currently, I am reading a book called The Mindful Athlete that I thoroughly enjoy and am trying to apply the lessons taught in it to my life. Once the quarantine began to lift a little bit I was able to go to the beach again and begin golfing with friends. Golfing felt very different at first because they were only allowing one person to a cart, tee times were much cheaper, masks were required when playing, and the fl...
