Random Post - What I did During Quarintine
Growing up playing sports I have never really had a lot of free time considering there is always some sort of workout/practice to get to. However, when this pandemic hit, it forced me to get creative on how I could go about my days. In the beginning, I found myself getting very bored and it was driving me crazy. One hobby I have grown to love is reading. From real estate books to sportsbooks to biographies I have truly loved them all. It has taken me away from spending too much time on social media and really helped me relax and grow my knowledge on different topics. Currently, I am reading a book called The Mindful Athlete that I thoroughly enjoy and am trying to apply the lessons taught in it to my life.
Once the quarantine began to lift a little bit I was able to go to the beach again and begin golfing with friends. Golfing felt very different at first because they were only allowing one person to a cart, tee times were much cheaper, masks were required when playing, and the flagsticks were to not be pulled. These guidelines have been enforced for so long now that it will be interesting to see how going back to normal golf rounds will feel. But finally, it began to feel a little normal being able to go out and socialize. Also, I never thought there would have been a time where public beaches could be shut down with serious repercussions if the guidelines were not followed. This did not last very long which I am very thankful for, but for that short period of time, it was very strange.
Final Thoughts:
I think this whole pandemic has really challenged everyone in a unique way and has really made us all miss what the "normal" feels like. I never thought I would take things like early morning lifts with my team for granted or actually having in-person class and interacting with fellow students. When this is all over, I believe we will be stronger as a country having to go through all of this adversity and we will hopefully begin to appreciate the little things more.
Great post Ethan! I'm also somewhat into reading and will definitely have to check out "The Mindful Athlete." I agree that this whole experience will hopefully bring everyone together when it's over, and that everyone will be more grateful for the experiences we previously took for granted. Nice job!
